Is the Beachbody Coach Opportunity a appropriate business undertaking? If you’re like me, you’ve seen their products such as P90X, Power 90, Insanity, Slim In Six, ChaLENE Extreme, 10 Minute Trainer, or others advertised on the late night infomercials. Or maybe you’re already a customer of one of these products and have come to love and trust them.
Product Partners LLC, the parent company of Beachbody, currently invests upwards of $100 million a year in advertising on tv infomercials to advertise their products. They have been advertising on infomercials for over 10 years. But in March 2007 they started a network marketing model of representatives who are called coaches.
The coaches are not fitness coaches exactly, in that they’re not registered fitness trainers. But they are people who already use the Beachbody products and who promote both the products and the network marketing opportunity. Independent coaches can advertise or promote the products and the business opportunity in a number of methods. They can pass out flyers, set up booths at job fairs, health fairs, and other kinds of fairs. They can invite people to house meetings. And they can contact family & friends and tell about the products and business opportunity.
The coaches are meant to be a product of the product, and so the testimony of their physical change through the use of the products for many of them is their best method of advertising. So when family, friends, co-workers, neighbors and other people who know them can see the visible change evidenced through weight loss, muscle gain and a higher level of fitness, then it will cause them to ask how they lost the weight for example.
When you start as a a beachbody coach, you pay a startup fee of $39.95 which provides you with a business training kit and also provides you with a replicated beachbody coach website which is used to sell the products and also to sign up people to the business opportunity. After the first month there is a $14.95 monthly cost for the website. This is where most coaches send people to who want to sign up as a coach.
The trouble is that 97% of the coaches have the same replicated website, and therefore is identical to all the rest. The more advanced coaches have a customized front end website or a blog that links to the company website. Some people have either hired a programmer to embed customized links to the coach signup and corporate store site. Or those who know how have done it themself – but this takes up crucial time which could be better used to market the products and to sponsor more coaches.
These have been the traditional methods used for networking and promotion in MLM companies for the last 50 or more years. And many MLM or network marketing companies continue to teach their people to build their business through these same old techniques. But for most people those techniques only work for so long util they join the NFL club – No Funds Left and No Friends Left. But most people are looking to earn like a real NFL football player, but if the funds don’t come in then they are out of the game. And the sad realization is that around 95 percent of network marketers earn an average of about $30 to $50 a week. This statistic is common in just about every network marketing company – it’s just an industry statistic that can’t seem to be avoided.
